Try the activities, then check your answers.

Choose a short recording.

An additional or different person

Put else after someone, anyone or nobody. Someone else means another person in the situation.

Someone else can help you.

Is anyone else coming?

Nobody else can still leave some people present

Context: Ana and Ben came.Nobody else came.No additional people came.
Keep the existing groupAna and Ben are still included.

The short sentence excludes people beyond the group already mentioned.

Nobody came would exclude everybody. Nobody else came depends on the people already established in the conversation. The context here names Ana and Ben as one possible example.
A woman directs a visitor to another adult who can help with an umbrella.
Someone else can help you.The gesture directs the person to a different helper.

Ask what more

Else also follows question words such as who, what and where. It asks for another person, thing or place.

Who else knows?

What else do we need?

Add possession to the whole phrase

Put ‘s after else in someone else’s. With whose else, use whose else without another possessive ending.

This is someone else’s coat.

Whose else could it be?

A woman holds an unworn coat on a hanger and asks a colleague about it.
This is someone else’s coat. The extra coat gives context. Its ownership is stated by the sentence.
