Present simple per parlare della routine

Impara a descrivere abitudini e azioni regolari, con particolare attenzione alla forma di he, she e it.

1. Quando si usa il present simple?

Usiamo il present simple per abitudini, routine e fatti che sono generalmente veri.

Routine

I start work at nine.
Inizio a lavorare alle nove.

We study English on Tuesdays.
Studiamo inglese il martedì.

Fatti abituali

She lives in Rome.
Lei vive a Roma.

The shop closes at six.
Il negozio chiude alle sei.

2. La regola principale

I, you, we, they

Usa la forma base del verbo: I work, you work, we work, they work.

He, she, it

Aggiungi normalmente -s: he works, she reads, it starts.

Tre forme utili da ricordare

  • go → goes: She goes to the office by bus.
  • study → studies: He studies English after dinner.
  • have → has: Marta has lunch at one.

3. Confronto con l’italiano

In italiano la desinenza del verbo mostra spesso chi compie l’azione. In inglese il pronome soggetto è necessario e la forma del verbo cambia soprattutto alla terza persona singolare.

Italiano

Lavoro da casa.
Lavora da casa.

Inglese

I work from home.
She works from home.

4. Errori comuni per italiani

  1. Omettere il soggetto: “Work in Milan” non è una frase completa. Di’: I work in Milan.
  2. Dimenticare la -s: non “He work”, ma He works.
  3. Usare is davanti a un verbo: non “She is work”, ma She works.
  4. Aggiungere -s con tutti i soggetti: non “They works”, ma They work.
